For some reason I’ve never been able to fathom, playing banjo with the fingertips, not metal picks, is called Classic – Classic Banjo. The term gets confused with classical. It’s true that some Classic Banjo players play classical pieces, but so do Bluegrass players and tenor banjoists. But we seem to be stuck with the name, Classic Banjo.

I’ve been playing with my fingertips ever since I started banjo, and have had a wonderful time exploring the very varied repertoire the style has generated over the decades.
